Help with FitUp for iPhone

FitUp is made by one developer, Jay Alcalde, and this address goes straight to that person. Send the offset, the angle, the pipe size, and the fitting you used along with the number you expected, and the math gets checked line by line.

Replies go out within two business days, usually the same day. A suspected wrong cut length gets answered first. For a bug, include your iPhone model, iOS version, and the screen you were on.

Restore purchases

  1. Make sure the iPhone is signed in to the same Apple Account that bought Pro.
  2. Open FitUp and tap the gear at the top of the home screen to open Settings.
  3. Tap Restore Purchases. The app asks Apple for your current subscription, and every lock and blurred number clears if one is active. The paywall also has a Restore button.
  4. If it says no active subscription was found, open Settings on the iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions. If FitUp is not listed there, the purchase did not complete and you were not charged.

Cancel a subscription

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone and tap your name at the top.
  2. Tap Subscriptions, then FitUp.
  3. Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm.

Cancel at least 24 hours before the period or the free trial ends to avoid the next charge. You keep Pro until the end of the time you already paid for, and the free tier keeps working after that. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. In FitUp, a Pro subscriber can also tap Manage subscription in Settings to reach the same Apple screen.

Common questions

The take-out in the chart does not match my fittings

The chart ships commonly published center-to-end values for butt-weld 45 LR, 90 LR, and 90 SR elbows and labels them as defaults, because makers differ. Measure your fitting or check the maker's catalog. With Pro you can edit any value and add threaded and socket-weld fittings; your edits are used in every offset after that. Cuts already saved keep the numbers they were made with.

My cut length is 1/16 off from what I worked out by hand

FitUp computes the travel, take-outs, and gaps exactly and rounds only the final cut, once, to the nearest 1/16. Rounding each piece by hand and then subtracting can land one sixteenth away. The formula line under each result shows the exact decimals so you can compare.

Why does plumbing show center to center and no cut length?

Threaded, sweat, and glued joints take no weld gap, and the free chart only has butt-weld take-outs. If you picked plumbing, FitUp gives you the center-to-center travel and leaves fitting make-up to you. With Pro you can enter your own threaded take-outs and get a cut length.

Why are the numbers blurred at 22 1/2 or 30 degrees?

Offsets at 45 degrees are free. At any other angle the diagram still draws, but travel, run, and the cut length are part of Pro. The same goes for take-out chart sizes past 1 inch.

When do my free rolling offsets come back?

The free tier includes 10 rolling offsets per calendar month. The count beside the tool shows how many are left, and it resets on the 1st.

Will I be charged during the free trial?

No. The yearly plan starts with a 7-day free trial and nothing is charged until it ends. Cancel at least 24 hours before the end and you pay nothing. The monthly plan has no trial.

Can I get a refund?

Apple handles refunds because the payment went to Apple. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, find the FitUp charge, and choose a reason.

I got a new iPhone. Where are my jobs?

Jobs live on the phone, not on a server, so they move with your iPhone backup. If you restored the new phone from an iCloud or computer backup, they are already there. If you set it up as new, they are only on the old phone. Your subscription follows your Apple Account; tap Restore Purchases on the new phone.

Does FitUp work in a basement with no signal?

Yes. Every calculation runs on the iPhone. A connection is only needed to buy or restore a subscription.

How do I delete my data?

Open a job, tap the menu at the top right, and choose Delete job, or delete the app to remove everything it stored. To have the anonymous subscription record removed from RevenueCat, email us with the Order ID from Apple's receipt; the Privacy Policy explains what that record contains.
